There are many issues that can arise with any boiler, and it’s good to be aware of them so that you can know what you need to do about it. One of the most common problems that boilers run into is when they are turning themselves off all the time. In fact, when this happens, it is a sure sign that something has gone wrong somewhere, and you will need to make sure you are getting help with it. So, what exactly causes this problem?
First of all, the engineer that you call out is likely to check the thermostat to see if there is anything wrong with it. A faulty thermostat is the number one cause of a boiler turning itself off all the time, so it might be a case of just replacing that as soon as possible. Alternatively, you might find that there is an issue with the temperature control valve. Because this is vital in keeping the temperature of the water from getting too hot, modern boilers are programmed to turn off if there is an issue here – so you don’t scald yourself with water.
At other times, this problem can be a result of the boiler condensate pipe freezing over, so if it has happened in winter and at no other time of year, this might be what has happened.
